DAREarts works in communities facing chronic underfunding, systemic racism, and poverty to offer young people a turning point in their lives. We combine a leadership development curriculum with arts-based education to provide children and youth with the opportunity to reconstruct their own narrative; building self-confidence, and awareness, while simultaneously developing skills for their future. My first experience was in front-line service, working as a live-in caregiver at L'Arche Vancouver and it began a wonderful journey that I navigated through to leadership positions. I worked in roles including: front-line service, management, behavioural intervention, training, and education planning.I specialized in recreation integration and behavioural management for children and youth with intellectual and physical disabilities, residential supports for youth with dual-diagnosis, residential supports for adults with complex care needs, and employment supports for young adults transitioning through the system.
