During my three years at Higley, I enjoyed my experience being a master teacher of mathematics. My last year at HHS, I was the department chair and lead an awesome group of math teachers. Due to my work in curriculum development and faciliating workshops, I was chosen to take our district's math department to a whole new level by making improvements in instruction, common assessments, curriculum development in preparation for common core, and finally improvements in our scores on the high-stakes exams. Currently, I'm loving it and each day I feel like I make a positive impact on thousands of future mathematical minds. Show less

Higley High School is a wonderful place to teach. There is a great support system and teachers are always willing to share ideas and resources. I inspired and taught my students to learn Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus. Higley High School is a wonderful place to teach. While at El Dorado High School, I taught intermediate mathematics from Math Topics 1 through 4. During this time, I created the curriculum maps aligned to 2003 state standards and innotivated lesson plans. Those lessons provided many opportunities for my students to analyze and apply their knowledge of mathematics by conducting experiments and collecting data at our nearest Target. Those years were the most influential to me, because of the students I taught showed and challenged me to create a math program, which got them to appreciate and learn the mathematics and at the end their AIMS scores showed positive gains. ICI was where I started my path to being a GREAT teacher. I am extremely happy for my years teaching at this school, because it showed me the different ways people learn. At this school, I just taught! There was no busy work involved, like taking student homework to grade, taking attendance, handling misbehaviors, and planning or creation of lessons for whole group instruction. I became a master at teaching students one on one using the sychrotic method and I learn so much information outside of my field of mathematics. Show less
