Medical Coder and Biller

My responsibilities include reviewing medical procedures as documented by the doctors and translating the medical procedures into codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS. I help code and bill out inpatient and outpatient services, including office visits, hospital consultations, laboratory, drug infusions, home infusions and patients' seen in skilled nursing facilities. I transmit claims to payers and other recipients. I help coordinate insurance reimbursement of care providers as well as troubleshoot denied claims to achieve payment. I perform regular laboratory audits to help see where we can improve and lead monthly meetings to target problem areas. I assist with the A/R, posting payments and patient statements as needed. I am an active member of AAPC and continue to learn through insurance newsletters, conferences and webinars in order to stay on top of the ever changing healthcare industry.
