It is not an exaggeration when I say that Jen Schott is the best supervisor I have ever had - and she has set the bar high for my future jobs and supervisors. Not only does Jen show genuine care and consideration for her direct reports, but also for anyone she encounters through her work. I was supervised by Jen first as her intern, and she ensured my experience was full of professional development and growth opportunities. She encouraged me to ask questions, pursue relevant trainings, and processed situations of all kinds with me to make sure I knew how to handle anything in the future. When I began my full-time role under Jen, I was always so grateful that she kept supporting me the same and wasn't afraid to jump in to support where she was needed. She will not hesitate to meet with students on academic and career topics, take over granting hundreds of course permissions, giving presentations, teaching, or anything else - she is the kind of boss to get in the trenches with you and be helpful. Even when Jen wasn't my supervisor anymore, she was available to assist me in collaboration efforts across campus to make sure the services to students were top-notch. Jen's shining qualities don't end at her supervision abilities, she is also the most outstanding higher education professional I can think of. Jen coordinated Fall Career Week (a week of 70+ career events involving every school at IUPUI) and her organization of such a large project was immaculate. She also taught our Career Development and Planning course and First Year Seminars with ease and made sure to connect with her students and help them understand the benefit of the content she was teaching. Jen takes on any challenge and provides solutions quickly and efficiently. She wants to make a difference for students, and there is no doubt in my mind that she has impacted more students than she knows. I still aspire to be the kind of supervisor, professional, and human that Jen is - the kind that you can rely on, have fun with, and trust with anything! She also has great hair, brings snacks to meetings, and will celebrate every special occasion with you!

Jen Schott and I worked together at IUPUI for over 15 years. I was fortunate enough to bookend my time at IUPUI with Jen, working in University College during my first and last years at the institution. Jen is a remarkable expert in the field of academic and career development. She tirelessly developed a career development program for exploratory students and those transitioning between majors throughout IUPUI. In addition, each year she led and coordinated the annual Fall Career week that included 60+ events with all IUPUI schools involved. As a supervisor of multiple teams, she was an role model for her staff, taking the time to build them as a team while also as individual professionals. Jen was a dream to supervise - responsible, solutions-focused, team oriented, and always working to improve our student services to directly impact student retention. She is a leader in higher education and would be an asset to any organization. I would work with Jen again in a heartbeat!
