During the summer of 2013, and again in 2014, I had the privilege of being the nanny for three children. The children had been attending the daycare I worked at previously, but their parents wanted them to be together for one last summer before they all started school. The children's ages ranged from four to eleven years old and I worked Monday thru Friday 8 a.m.- 5/6 p.m. During these hours I cooked meals for the children, did light cleaning (vacuumed rooms, did laundry, swept, mopped, and wiped down the kitchen, just made sure the home looked nice when the parents came back), made sure the kids did their daily chores, and set up light school work for them to work on for certain mornings. When we were finished with what needed to be done for the day we usually packed our own lunches and set out for the library, city and state parks, pools, movies, bowling, etc., anything to keep them active and not sitting at home all day. The oldest also had a very busy baseball schedule over the summer so I would bring him to and from practices when the parents were running behind or could not bring him due to the timing. Show less

In my years working at Hy-Vee I have moved up the rankings to currently hold a position in Customer Service. I began my journey bagging groceries and helping with store chores. After a year of work I moved into a checking position and helped customers at the last step of their shopping experience. During the next few years I continued to check when needed, but I began stocking the shelves and helping with other departments and management during times of limited staff. Towards the present day I moved to a more concrete position in Customer Service because of my change in flexibility as school started. Show less

During my time as a floating teacher at Through the Years, I would assist in a room that was shorter on staff that day due to peoples days off and illnesses. I helped with teaching sessions in the morning, early afternoon, and late afternoon. I taught the children in areas such as reading, writing, spelling, art, and science. I also helped watch over the children during breakfast, lunch, playtime, and everywhere in between. I spent a lot of my time with the school age children during their summer program. We brought the kids on many fun learning field trips where there needed to be older staff present. Show less
