    • Case Manager
      • May 2012 - Aug 2019

My clients are the most vulnerable population in Benton County Oregon and my case management style is client driven. I have found that for the most part this kind of case management works best for people who are without housing and are on the fringe of being self-sufficient. Most of the homeless/house-less population work better if they have some control and buy-in of their goals. Over time I help them work though harder goals but after some success they usually feel less burdened by the goals and feel the struggle is worth it. Each person is different and so case management is tailored to the individual/family. Show less

    • Case Manager / Outreach Worker
      • Feb 2012 - Aug 2019

As an outreach worker I spend time out in the field making contact with the homeless/houseless neighbors. I check in see how they are doing, ask about their needs, and see if there is anything I might be able to help with. Sometimes, its making a phone call to check in with family, getting them medical assistance, inviting them to come meet with me and we can go over what resources they can access to, and I have also taken blankets food and medications to them. A lot of my outreach is about building trust. When someone engages with case management I keep it client driven for the most part. We start with a few obtainable goals and when they need help getting resources, I help them make contact with the resources by going with them so it is not as daunting. Show less

    • Site Supervisor: Men's Cold Weather Shelter
      • Feb 2012 - Aug 2019

The men's shelter is a seasonal shelter operating from Nov. 1st - March 31st each year. We offer shelter services to the most vulnerable in our community and provide them with a bunk, snack, safety/security, case management if they'd like it, and we practice 'harm reduction' with these men. I get to know all of the men that come through the shelter doors and in many cases my team and I get them to the resources they need. We also partner with community agencies to come in and provide services through out the shelter season. Show less

    • Lead Case Worker
      • Jan 2008 - Aug 2012

I had many opportunities as a Lead Case Worker. I was assigned case management duties with the youth. As a case manager, I was able to work 1 on 1 with the youth and help layout goals and work on different life skills, and at times, was able to work with the whole family and help mediate more positive interactions and plan activities for the family to work on at home. I would also work with Probation Officers, teachers, help youth get to counseling or medical appointments. Often times I would help the family with wrap around services and attend 504 plan meetings with the schools and making sure the student is on tract. Also, I was able to work as a weekend supervisor. This gave me one of the best opportunities to stretch my skills and ability to manage co-staff. I also was able to pitch in wherever I could to help fix the pluming, organize food storage, work on light maintenance jobs that needed attention. It was great to work with the youth of my community, I learned as much from them as they did from me. Show less
