It is my great pleasure to write this letter in support of Jennifer Gamez. I had the opportunity to work closely with Ms. Gamez while she was the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCC) Program Manager for Central Maine Community College. As I was a faculty member involved with the grant, Ms. Gamez interacted with me frequently to obtain materials needed for regulatory reporting. Over the past three years I have seen Ms. Gamez express exemplary interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external clients all while advancing our college and program objectives. Without Ms. Gamez much of what was accomplished for students may not have occurred. Interacting with many of Ms. Gamez’s former students from her time working in the TRIO program, I have heard many examples of how Ms. Gamez went above and beyond her official duties to provide her students personalized attention and support. Ms. Gamez has always been a strong voice for her students, advocating on their behalf. Based on my observation of her abilities, I strongly believe she has the potential to be an outstanding addition to your workforce. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information. Yours sincerely, Andrew Hughen Instructor Computer Technology Department Central Maine Community College

Jennifer has been a Central Maine Community College co-worker of mine for about 5 years and we have worked on various projects together. I find Jennifer intelligent, hardworking and she can articulate her needs for a project very well. She is especially good at making polished presentations, even in an ad hoc situation. I especially like her no nonsense approach to any work related assignment she may have. Jennifer adores her students when in an advising role and takes great pains to advise them appropriately. Any employer will find she is a rare find, and will appreciate her work while representing their organization to clients and the public in a most positive fashion.

The Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant is a federally funded computer technology program hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor. This thirteen-million dollar project was awarded to all seven campus locations within the Maine Community College System. I provide support and leadership to the seven campus locations in the final phase of closing the TAACCCT grant. The final phase entails data collection, fiscal and program reporting, collaboration with third-party affiliates and program reviewers, and the completion of creating a national open educational resource bank of accessible information technology curriculum for all seven campus locations. TRiO Student Support Services is a federally funded program hosted by the U.S. Department of Education. 175 students who identify as low-income, first-generation, or living with a disability are provided various academic services to overcome barriers. Working as part of a dynamic team, I successfully created an atmosphere that promoted students academic, personal, and professional development. I diligently advised and guided a case load of fifty plus adult learners through the college journey while meeting federal grant objectives. Student retention talents include: relationship building, intrusive advising, retention outreach, crisis intervention referrals, disability/assistive technology assistance, tutoring, workshop development, education/career planning, culture events to promote diversity and inclusiveness, adult transition assistance, and transfer services. I designed, created, and organized summer academic programming in math, writing, college readiness, science and nursing with all related assessments. I am well-equipped to assist in annual participant reports and grant writing. Show less

The Learning and Advising Center is an academic resource that serves all students attending Central Maine Community College. I worked in a team environment to advise adult learners enrolled in the General Studies program and functioned as a backup adviser for all other majors. Advising sessions I conducted entailed assisting with course selection, registration, hold-management, probation/dismissal counseling, audit completion, schedule changes, referrals to appropriate student service offices, and policy/procedure counseling. Retention efforts included numerous reach out efforts by phone, email, and in person. Collaborated across the campus community to promote student success. I served on the Behavior Intervention (BIT) team, orientation committee, and provided proctoring services to the Medical Assisting faculty . I engaged in public speaking events such as new student orientations and open house. I designed, by request, various presentations for new student orientation. Show less
