As head teacher for 22 students, I taught students and initiated curriculum design. I enjoy challenge and constantly look for ways to increase student engagement and boost inclusion for all students. Curriculum Mapping► I improved the overall reading comprehension to above grade level by redesigning the curriculum to augment student engagement. An important part of this was establishing regular assessments and increasing library use. ► By creating a grade-leveled study of stereotypes, we dispelled many myths of the African continent.► I lead the collaboration with colleagues to incorporate LGBT visibility into the curriculum. I presented the consensus-building process and the curriculum at the NAIS Annual Conference. Modeling Best Practices► I created the “Honoring All Families – Daring to Cross Boundaries” program to build awareness of types of diversity. I presented this program at the NAIS Annual Conference. ► 100% of my students were proficient in math at year-end regardless of where they began the year. I tailored the lessons to include context units, inquiry-based learning, and number strings.► My lower school theatre programs tripled the number of students involved in theatre in the middle and upper schools by acquainting and developing student interest in early grades.► I implemented world percussion groups at the elementary level by seeking outside training on the djembe and doumbek drums and learning over 40 rhythms and songs to teach.Coaching & Assessment► 100% of my 10 assistant teachers have entered the profession. I coach with lesson planning, teaching, classroom management, and other tools. ► My committee created a foundational teacher assessment and learning program that allowed each faculty member to choose from development experiences and then team with other faculty for discussion and accountability.► I enhanced lower school faculty engagement in curriculum development by using structures learned in the M.S. Ed. Program at Penn.

I founded the swimming team for grades 7-12 which is still ongoing today. Every morning at 6 am the training would start. The teenagers had a tremendous sense of achievement the first year when swimmers qualified for the Eastern Regional competitions. I was an All-American swimmer in college and enjoyed passing on the love of my sport to others. I founded the swimming team for grades 7-12 which is still ongoing today.
