Oversees all Sight Savers America programmatic work and assists the CEO and CDO with strategic planning and funding. SSA Eye Care, Low Vision, and Screening programs serve 95,000 children annually across 16 states.Eye Care ProgramProvides case-managed, follow-up eye care for children referred after a failed vision screening. Each child referred is assigned a case specialist who uses a multilayered protocol of calls, texts, and letters/emails to establish contact with the the child's parent. Once contact is established, our case specialists educate parents on the importance of recurrent eye care, and then coordinate and provide dilated eye exams and all prescribed treatments for the child – everything from a simple pair of eye glasses to medications, patching, vision therapy, and even surgeries. The end result is every child obtaining an opportunity for his/her best possible vision and the establishment of a local eye care home for recurrent eye care. Since 1997, almost 750,000 children have received services.Low Vision ProgramServes children and adults who have severe and permanent visual impairment or are blind. Working in conjunction with Teachers of the Visually Impaired and/or Blind, Schools for the Deaf and Blind, Low Vision and Blind Specialists, and other eye care professionals, we proactively identify people in need of high-tech assistive technology. These individuals receive a low vision evaluation or a blind functional assessment and Sight Savers America purchases, delivers, and trains individuals on all devices recommended by the low vision/blind expert, including expensive vision aids. Since 1999, more than 3,000 children and more than 300 adults have received high-tech vision or blind aids through our low vision program.Screening ProgramHas provided over 150,000 vision screenings and over 200,000 head-to-toe health screenings on-site at underserved rural and urban schools since 2011.
