After making the decision to leave medical practice because I wasn't confident in treating quantity rather than quality, this position found its way to me and I was so excited I was afraid to tell anybody about the job--in fear of "jinxing" myself. Here, my two passions and callings have been combined: teaching and diabetes. I get to spend my days educating peers, providers, students, and patients about diabetes and how they can better manage their disease. I've always been highly interested in science so this opportunity has allowed me to really dive in to a few studies and really learn the details of some of the medications utilized by the company we represent. So far, it has been absolutely wonderful! Show less

    • Family Nurse Practitioner
      • Dec 2007 - Nov 2013

My responsibilities included providing acute and chronic care to patients of all ages, although mostly adolescent-elderly. I was able to provide care to patients in need of stitches, treatment for depression, annual physicals, nutrition counseling and weigh loss, along with those in need of management of their chronic diseases (hypertension, diabetes I and II, hyperlipidemia, anxiety/depression, chronic pain...) This position by far was one of the most challenging and worthwhile experiences of my life because it opened up a world of possibilities, introduced me to some of the greatest people, and help me find my passion which is diabetes and teaching. Whereas I do miss the daily treatment of patients, I know I'm on the right path to wherever God has His plan for me. Show less
