Research activities included project management of an EPA funded project (2015/17) ‘New Jersey Wetlands Past, Present and Future’ using palaeoecology to identify the range of pollutant contamination, environmental degradation and potential recovery strategies in NJ coastal wetland. This lead to the development of a project for which I was PI (2016/17; $110,000 approx. £88,000) on a grant looking at anthropogenic pollutants in the Raritan River, NJ. In addition, to research in Borneo, Indonesia where I worked on long-term vegetation and fire dynamics at the Tuanan Orangutan Research Station to monitor habitat sustainability. Show less

A palaeoecologist in a forestry department, my primary aim was to link the spatial and temporal scales of the methods; palaeoecology and dendroecology through forest disturbance dynamics in central Europe and beyond (USA and Fennoscandia). I was successful with a small (600 000 CZK approx. £20 000) two-year grant to fund research activity in Šumava, Czech Republic and Tatra Mountains National Park, Slovakia; securing funds for field work, sediment analysis including lab facilities and radiocarbon dating as well as publication fees. PI (2016/19; €305,000 approx. £260,000) and Co-PI (2016/19; €320,000 approx. £275,000) of two GACR (Czech government) grants on this topic. Show less
