Managed numerous scientific research projects that focus on fisheries management, marine conservation, human rights and aquaculture and worked with partners to identify project timelines, objectives, and develop key deliverables. Led the development of scoping reports for target research countries and regions on marine resources and their relevant conservation, resource management and economic information. Also, assisted in the development of several project scientific reports, and academic publications. Worked with, and supported the development of, bioeconomic models to determine the economic and biological outcomes of different management interventions. Also, provided technical assistance in acquiring, managing, and visualizing project-related data. Coordinated the development and execution of research grants. Organized funder visits and internal and external events, workshops, and meetings for fundraising, dissemination of research findings, and research collaborations. Show less

Jun 2016 - Jun 2017
Worked on a wide range of bioeconomic modeling projects that examined how climate change and different management strategies will impact the profitability and sustainability of regional and global fisheries. Worked on establishing a fisheries network that facilitates the exchange of data, ideas and projects amongst fisheries scientists, economists, and academics around the world. Identified project schedules and key objectives based on client needs, maintained communications with clients and other diverse stakeholders, and developed project deliverables (reports, presentations, scientific publications, and white papers). Helped adapt existing fisheries models to include different climate change and management scenarios. Performed literature reviews for topics related to climate change and fisheries biology and economics, collected and managed project-related data, conducted relevant data analyses, and assisted in the development of science publications that are presently under review or forthcoming. Developed two economic valuation surveys, which helped NOAA determine the value of whales within the Santa Barbara Channel, the importance of the whale watching industry to the local economy, and the need for whale conservation. Created a field handbook and other supporting documents for survey distribution and administration by field agents. Collected survey data from whale watching operators in Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles County. Conducted literature reviews on topics such as maritime shipping emissions, local air pollution and whale biology. Show less

Worked on a broad spectrum of environmental issues spanning EDF’s energy, terrestrial, ocean, and sustainability work. Conducted literature searches and synthesized relevant research into comprehensive reports that served to inform projects across the organization. Topics included: big data, methane mapping, plant biotechnology, sustainable agricultural practices, waste management, energy efficiency, and advanced energy production. Identified external experts who could assist on EDF’s projects. Aided in organizing internal, external, and international workshops for current and emerging environmental issues that EDF was working on. Show less

Studied the effect of ocean acidification on algal carbon fixation. Our lab used observational and experimental techniques to forecast the impact of decreasing ocean pH on a diversity of algal communities. Responsible for the collection of algae samples, identification of species, and subsequent biochemical analysis. Maintained artificial reef environments that mimicked ocean acidification conditions. Performed biochemical assays to determine enzyme activity levels. Analyzed and presented all collected data using statistical analysis programs (R, JMP, Excel). Show less
