Monument Lab is a nonprofit public art and history studio that facilitates critical conversations around the past, present, and future of monuments. As part of ArtworxTO's Year of Public Art, I conducted research at several sites of memory across the city of Toronto. Through engaging Torontonians, I collected dozens of publicly sourced monument proposals that will be used as the basis for a creative dataset. This research will inform the city on ways to rethink monument acquisition, deaccessioning, and recontextualization practices. Show less
