My undergraduate research involves the investigation of crack propagation and fatgiue in structures. Using Abaqus finite element software, I model structures under various loading conditions for a range of materials to investigate the cause of crack propagation. I investigate the effect of loading, boundary conditions, and geometry on crack patterns. The goal of my research is to create a well-defined database and use deep learning tools to help identify cracks on images and classify them. As a structural engineering intern at STV Inc., I calculated live loads, dead loads, and load take downs for multiple bridges following AASHTO standards. In addition, I completed retaining wall calculations for high speed railways. I drafted design details in AutoCAD and MicroStation for numerous projects. At Walker Parking Consultants, I assisted during condition assessments, evaluated sealants and water damage, assessed cracks in concrete, and chain dragged pour strips. In addition, I collaborated with project managers, site managers, structural engineers, and modeled numerous design details in Revit. I worked as a research assistant in the field of tornado infrastructure damage analysis and forensic engineering. I constructed and populated a unique damage database with information concerning structure, damage level, and location. In addition, I presented and contributed in project status team meetings with my advising professor and research staff.
