I’m writing to endorse Jenna Shearn as a teacher, mentor and artist. I attended Pikes Peak Community College from January ’06 through May ’10 and studied Multimedia Graphic Design. Jenna taught two of my classes, and also was a mentor and encourager throughout my years of study. What I most appreciated about Jenna as a teacher was her ability to drive and inspire us as students. Her Photoshop assignments pushed us creatively as well as technically. She taught many practical skills, some of which I use in my current profession as a digital production specialist, but she also taught us how to learn. I remember assignments where a particular visual style was the goal; she helped us explore different ways to achieve that style, and motivated us to try new things to put a personal stamp on that style. She also pushed us to communicate with our visual art, so that the finished work wasn’t only something that looked slick, but also something that made a statement. I’d sum it up by saying her approach was holistic. She challenged us to do work that was technically excellent, visually inviting, mentally stimulating, and unique to us as artists. Jenna was always conscientious in her work, and we could tell she put time into researching and preparing her lessons. She was also well-rounded, with a broad foundation in the graphic design software we used across all of our classes, but also fluent in

Jenna Shearn has supported the Independent Film Society of Colorado over the past several years during the flagship event of the organization, The Indie Spirit Film Festival. Each year she has supported us in the creation of the festival poster for our advertising and marketing campaigns and always delivered a work that has become one of the trademarks of the festival and a work of art that the community always looks forward to seeing. We can count on her without hesitation to organize and deliver on the project in a timely and well organized fashion. Her willingness to work collaboratively with the organization goes far beyond our expectations each year. It has been a pleasure to work with her over the years. I highly recommend Jenna Shearn
