  Toxicology Laboratory (PI: Sant) Independent Project: Embryonic Development of Zebrafish, Danio rerio, in response to Tire wear particles (TWP) • The goal of this project was to examine how TWP impacts embryonic development, using the zebrafish model, and to estimate how photolysis impacts the aquatic toxicity of TWP • Using a dose-response methodology of exposure, I assessed apical endpoints including mortality, hatching success, and structural deformities using light microscopy • I used fluorometric probes to assess xenobiotic metabolic activity using epifluorescent microscopy in live embryos • Use common data collection (including quantitative and qualitative image analysis) and data analysis techniques (Probit regression, t-test, ANOVA, chi-square) • Additional laboratory responsibilities included animal husbandry and care, and screening of transgenic strains of embryos using microscopy • Presented this research as a poster during the SDSU Student Symposium (March 2023) Show less
