Jenette is partnered with Adam Richman in Double Nickel Entertainment, a New York-based production company. They optioned GRAN TORINO from the writer Nick Schenk when he wasn’t yet represented, developed it with him, and are producers on the movie. Of all Clint Eastwood’s films, it is second only to AMERICAN SNIPER, grossing $270,000,000 worldwide. Their next movie is THE BURIAL at Amazon. Last year they produced A KID LIKE JAKE in tandem with Jim Parsons’ company That’s Wonderful. The movie stars Jim, Claire Danes and Octavia Spencer, premiered at Sundance to great reviews, and opened in theaters in last June. Their film before that was THE BOOK OF HENRY that Colin Trevorrow directed right after JURASSIC WORLD. It stars Naomi Watts, Jaden Lieberher, and Jacob Tremblay, the pint-sized star of ROOM. They have a TV development deal with Sky Vision. And apart from that, they have two TV shows at Warner Bros., one about the madmen who created MAD Magazine, and the other, an adaptation of Bluford High, the beloved Y/A series about kids of color in an urban high school. They also just sold a series to Apple and have another series at UCP. For 27 years before partnering with Adam, Jenette was the president and editor-in-chief of Time Warner’s DC Comics, and when its founder Bill Gaines died, of MAD Magazine as well. Under her aegis, DC introduced the graphic novel to America and transformed comics into a sophisticated art form. In an industry where creators had no rights, she granted royalties, reprint payments, and a share in merchandise, film and television revenue. Jenette also launched two seminal imprints, Vertigo, for serious, complex stories, and Milestone, a line of multi-ethnic superheroes, written, edited, and illustrated by multi-ethnic creators. Before forming Double Nickel Jenette created three magazines for young people, KIDS, Dynamite, and SMASH. She is vice president of Harlem Stage and an advisor to Bill T. Jones's Live Arts. Show less
