  My partner and I launched Here Be Dragons guesthouse, bar and restaurant in Battambang, Cambodia in 2012. It became one of the leading tourism and hospitality businesses in town and a gathering place for locals, expats and travellers. It was a fantastic creative experience - from devising a business concept to designing interiors and gardens, staging inspiring collaborative events and thinking through more community-centred ways of living.Once established, I was responsible for the general management of the business, with a team of around 14 colleagues. We ran the guesthouse with passion and within budget, promoted a sustainable model of tourism, and did our best to ensure that everyone who had a Here Be Dragons experience was left happier by the encounter.We sold the business at the end of August 2018 and returned to the UK.

I completed a postgraduate course in periodical journalism and worked on staff and as a freelancer for a variety of print and online publications, including Arena, Dazed and Confused, Eastern Daily Press, Erotic Review, Fortean Times, Heritage, In Britain, Independent on Sunday, The Telegraph and Time Out.
