Untapped were looking for a UX Designer to lead some Sprints for us as we developed our own new tech enabled capabilities. We hired Jemma and were delighted with the work she did. Jemma quickly understood the brief and asked great questions to get us to consider elements we hadn't. She assembled a strong multi-disciplinary team to work on the Sprints and led them through several weeks of efficient development. Her strong communication skills ensured everyone knew their roles and deadlines and could really enjoy the process. Her UX expertise resulted in user friendly designs of two products that exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend Jemma.

Jemma joined the Studio Exception team in September 2022 until January 2023, as a freelance User Researcher to work on one of our most important client projects. From day one Jemma brought quality, depth of thinking and value to our client and team members alike. We were impressed with her ability to take on a variety of challenges and were particularly delighted with her evolutions of our process in the later stage workshops which we continue to use to this day. Highly recommend her.

Carried out the client assessment and scrutinised the client’s brief, researched existing product solutions, generated and evaluated product ideas, progressed the chosen design to detailed sketches and CAD, made prototypes from scratch or by adapting the existing aid (which involved material sampling and testing), gained feedback on and test the prototype, did a risk assessment, and made and delivered a final custom product. I gained knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques, used workshop machines, and learnt how to plan and manage time and resources to execute several simultaneous design projects. I also assisted with redesigning batch products to reduce cost and lead time. Show less

Worked individually and with the team to design wide-ranging products from consumer to industrial, and dealing with product development issues like funding and IP. I developed CAD skills in Fusion, Inventor, OnShape and ProE, design skills in Photoshop and Illustrator, and used FEA and other technical testing. I produced concept sketches, renders, and 2D manufacturing drawings, and managed clients through their project.
