  Following a restructure of the fundraising function, I joined Tools for Self Reliance in the new post of Head of Fundraising, which offered some amazing opportunities including building and leading a team, a successful Radio 4 appeal, developing our stewardship and our first DFID grant (awarded but never received - if you know, you know!).   My role as the first fundraising manager for Age Concern Hampshire was to develop and implement a fundraising strategy to grow voluntary income. During my time with the organisation, I increased funding from grant making trusts and other funders, including a grant of £62,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund for an innovative project exploring how ageing has changed in the last 200 years. My team created a new supporter led annual fundraising campaign "A Good Old Fashioned Tea Party" which exceeded targets and raised our profile in the local community. I also developed and implemented a retail strategy leading to the launch of two shops initially as part of a 5 year income generation plan, including appointment and line management of the Retail Manager.   It's Your Choice provides information, advice, guidance and counselling to vulnerable young people aged 12-25 across the New Forest. I worked with a wonderful, dedicated team of staff and volunteer co-workers who are passionate about supporting young people and empowering them to address their issues. As well as leading on the fundraising strategy for It's Your Choice, I also shared joint overall responsibility of the organisation with the Service Delivery Manager. During my time with the charity, I secured a number of substantial grants, including multi year funding for a new post from Children In Need, and over £400,000 in statutory funding. Show less

  I joined The Grasslands Trust initially as Development Officer, looking after small grant making trust applications. I was promoted to the post of Manager, leading on all fundraising activity, including managing a broad portfolio of grant making trusts, Lottery and statutory funders. I secured a number of substantial grants, including one for £262,000 from a national landfill fund which made only 5 awards across the UK. I developed and implemented a fundraising strategy, including planning the development of a membership programme. I line managed staff and volunteer interns, and worked closely with the Chief Executive on all marketing and communication activity for the Trust. Show less

  I supported all fundraising activity at the Hospice, with particular responsibility for donor stewardship, legacy fundraising, and managing the charity Lottery. I gained experience in community fundraising and organising both small and major events as part of a full calendar, managing the database, analysing and segmenting supporter profiles in order to identify prospects and plan future activity. I was responsible for planning, writing and executing a direct marketing campaign targeting both warm and cold prospects, and exceeded the targets set for this initiative. Show less

  I was very lucky to have been a placed in a temporary administrative role at Refugee Action through a local agency. Since graduating two years before, I had worked a variety of short term temporary assignments in a variety of places - from a sawmill to a call centre! - and unsure what I wanted to "do." Working at Refugee Action was a fantastic experience and opened the door to the voluntary sector for me.
