Children have an endless potential. Our vision is to discover and nourish every student's potential and help it grow to the fullest. We teach children how to sing, dance and act by tapping into the natural love of movement and rhythm. Through fun and play, our students build self-esteem and confidence, learn the value of teamwork and overcome fear of public performance.

After my teachers college had finished, I continued to teach Social Sciences at West Humber C.I. and helped coach vocals, drama and dance for the School Musical. The principal, Mr. Alvi, and vice-principals, Ms. Koehn and Mr. Ascari, commended me for my commitment and contributions. They wrote: "Thank you sincerely for your dedication, time and efforts in the production of the Wizard of Oz 2012 at West Humber. All performances were memorable and showcased the incredible artistic talents of our students to our entire community. Our students had an opportunity to truly shine because of your belief in their talents."I also continued to be on the Multiculturalism Committee at Parkdale C.I., and help out with the organization of the School Multicultural Show that included arts, food and dance shows. My last practicum placement was at West Humber Collegiate Institute for social sciences teachable. I observed and helped teach Introduction to Anthropology, Psychology and Philosophy (grade 11), Human Growth and Development (grade 12), Locally Developed Science (grade 9), Physical Education and Weight Training (grades 9 and 11). I also observed and assisted in the developmentally delayed classes. I developed and organized a Youth Sponsorship Opportunity program where local businesses had an opportunity to support students' learning, and leadership and responsibility skills. Students demonstrated their skills by carrying out vital roles throughout May that helped keep the classroom a welcoming, caring, safe and respectful place.Link to my Prezi for the unit: http://prezi.com/xkeh3ucyeohk/unit-on-physical-and-cognitive-development-in-middle-and-late-childhood/I was on the committee for the Multicultural Show and Wizard of Oz performance, and I helped coach junior girls volleyball team.Observation Evaluation:"As for my observations, you lesson was well organized, creative and focused on student needs. You handled the students arriving late very well. You did not let that disrupt the lesson. During the lesson, the students were on task, focused on your instructions and participated effectively. It was clear throughout the interaction with the students that you have a very good rapport with them.In speaking with your Mentor Teacher [Andrea Vinke], she had nothing but praise for your attitude, effort and performance. I know that she has spoken to you about her observations.I am confident that you are going to be an outstanding teacher as you have the proper attributes, including a strong work ethic, a willingness to place yourself in situations where you can learn, a strong desire to work with students and a passion to help them learn.I wish you every success."Louis SaccoCourse DirectorFaculty of EducationYork Universitylsacco@edu.yorku.ca Show less
