I am listing down in points my role, duties, experience and what I learnt from my summer internship at Judlau Contracting Inc. 1. I was bidding for the largest interlocking rail road project (Contract Ch061A) in the United States of America. 2. I got acquainted and familiarised with the various section drawings, plan drawings, structural drawings, geotechnical and instrumentation drawings, grading and drainage drawings, environmental drawings as well as catenary drawings. 3. I worked in the Queens Midtown Tunnel as a field engineer intern. Got to learn about the rehabilitation of a tunnel project. Did station surveys, drain surveys on site. Was involved with the practice of lock out and tag out inside the ventilation room. Learnt how to operate the various panels inside the ventilation room controlling the fan speeds and the air flow inside the tunnel. 4. I passed the OSHA 10 certificate course and got to know about the various safety aspects at any construction site. 5. I got to know about the various kinds of equipment used on site like the chipper, bobcats etc. and especially about the V notch chipper/cutter which enabled the equipment to cut through the wall of the tunnel without damaging the asbestos present inside and therefore, the air remained asbestos free. 6. I took quantity take-offs of all the drawings mentioned above in point 2. 7. I worked with Plan Swift software where we digitized the drawings, a simple tool for quantity take-off. Microsoft project and Prima Vera used for scheduling. Show less
