      After completing a final year project in association with the INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics, DCU, I was offered a summer position. The project involves photo-actuated hydrogels for microfluidic applications. It is a European Union FP7 funded project, called NAPES (http://www.napes.eu/). This project involves a number of European institutes/industrial partners. I am part of the multidisciplinary team on the development of an autonomous environmental sensing platform. My principal role is the development/improvement of a PID controller, characterisation of various operating conditions and implementing this controller for a number of applications. I am also involved in the mechanical design and manufacturing of the proposed systems.
