  After completing a final year project in association with the INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics, DCU, I was offered a summer position. The project involves photo-actuated hydrogels for microfluidic applications. It is a European Union FP7 funded project, called NAPES (http://www.napes.eu/). This project involves a number of European institutes/industrial partners. I am part of the multidisciplinary team on the development of an autonomous environmental sensing platform. My principal role is the development/improvement of a PID controller, characterisation of various operating conditions and implementing this controller for a number of applications. I am also involved in the mechanical design and manufacturing of the proposed systems.

  As manufacturing engineer, I am responsible for the design of parts and preparation of programs for both CNC & Laser systems. Maintenance was also carried out on these machines as part of my employment. I was responsible for completing orders for a variety of customers. This involved analysing technical drawings, setting the machines, selecting appropriate tooling/settings and ensuring a high-quality standard of production.
