Pediatric Occupational Therapist
-
Jan 2020 - Present
As a pediatric occupational therapist I have been providing treatment for a variety of conditions and in a multitude of settings. I have been independently managing scheduling with families and coordinating care within a multidisciplinary team. I have developed the ability to provide high quality therapy across multiple care settings including home environments, outpatient clinics, daycare's, schools and tele-health. This has helped me to be creative and inventive with resources for providing the best possible care. Show less

Student Occupational Therapy Treasurer
-
Jan 2018 - Dec 2019
As the treasurer for the MOT Class of 2019 I helped to develop budgets and manage our resources. Our student government developed multiple programs to help benefit the community. We created a Senior Social event in conjunction with several long term care facilities in our area. Our class also expanded our Parents Night Out program where we provide developmentally appropriate activities to children with disabilities while allowing respite for their parents. I managed finances for these programs and others that our MOT class developed. Show less

Go Baby Go Equipment Manager
-
Jan 2019 - Jun 2019
The Go Baby Go program provides adaptation to power wheel cars so children with disabilities can use them safely. I was responsible for maintaining our equipment, identifying adaptation needs, and electrically modifying cars. The team was an inter-professional collaboration between Physical Therapy and Occupation Therapy. I worked with other OT and PT students to create the postural and safety modifications needed for each client. I also helped identify clients upper extremity limitations and what kind of adaptations and switches would be best for clients safety and independence. Show less

Children's Assistive Technology Service Student Coordinator
-
Aug 2018 - Jun 2019
I helped to bring the Children's Assistive Technology service to Emory and Henry School of Health Sciences to provide AT equipment for southwest Virginia. The CATS program collects used assistive technology, refurbishes it, and then provides it free of charge to families who have limited access to these items. Southwest Virginia is one of the most under served regions in the state. Our goal was to establish the School of Health sciences as a hub for the CATS program to reach out to the families of this region. Emory and Henry School of Health Sciences is now partnered with the CATS program to begin increasing the reach of the program and helping children get the resources that they need. Show less

Pediatric Occupational Therapist
-
Aug 2019 - Nov 2019
As a fieldwork student with Carolina Pediatric I was able to develop and learn essential skills to be a quality entry level therapist. I worked both in the community and in the clinic and was able to see a wide variety of clients. Being in the community helped me to develop treatment creativity and learned essential skills to maintain a productive caseload. While in the clinic I communicated productively with other practitioners to best serve our clients and foster a team oriented culture. My experience being in multiple settings helped me to serve families and tailor my approach toward their specific needs. Show less

Activity Leader at Rosener House
-
May 2015 - May 2016
I was responsible for leading a variety of groups to benefit individuals suffering with dementia, Alzheimer's , Parkinson's, and other issues. Most significantly, I created individualized programs and plan services for Rosener House participants based on their needs and abilities, and also assist with speech therapy, physical therapy, music therapy, and occupational therapy. A large emphasis is placed on interpersonal communication with the participants and providing a positive, comfortable, and fun environment for a culturally diverse group of individuals with widely varying needs. I collaborated with a team of 7 to design daily activities and services to meet the specialized needs of all our participants while delivering them in a group setting; this teamwork requires a great deal of coordination, organization, prioritization, and effective time management.
