I was contracted as an interim Participation Officer to work on a Serious and Organised Crime project to its completion. I worked with young people that were known to Norwich Youth Offending Team and had been identified as being exploited by gangs to transport drugs into County market stores and distribute them to customers. The aim of the project was to provide the young people with employment and enterprise skills to address one of the key motivating factors which makes county lines attractive - 'making money'. This collaboration was done with local businesses partners. As a result of my engagement young people that had dis-engaged from the programme re-engaged and were offered work experience opportunities. I also co-designed their exit strategies with them and they all included Education, Training and Employment opportunities. See report of the project attached Show less

Bridging the Gap Islington is a small charity that recruits, trains and support volunteer mentors to work with people who are at risk of offending, homeless or have drug or alcohol problems. As a mentor Supervisor I provided individual support for volunteer mentors and sessional work on other related tasks, such as training and introducing mentors and service users. Main duties: I contacted the mentors at least once a week (phone call, text or email) to check whether they met their mentoring client and discuss any immediate issues I met the mentors at the start and end of mentoring and once a month during mentoring to provide more detailed discussion and supervision. I reported any concerns about the safety of the mentor, the service user or anyone else. And finally I ensured that records of meetings were provided to the Bridging the Gap co-ordinator and authorised expenses claims. The mentors I supported had varying backgrounds from such as Teachers, Consultants and recent graduates. Show less
