Bio
Susan Khazaeli
It's rare that you come across a well-rounded talent like Jeff. I had the pleasure of working with Jeff at the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies, where was the Manager of Academic Affairs. Jeff expertly wore several hats. In his title role, he arranged all of the details of my arrival and ensured that I felt like a welcomed member of the NESA team from the start. In fact, Jeff even went out of his way to meet me on my very first day in order to help me navigate the shuttle route and sites, and was exceedingly patient answering all of my questions. I should add that NESA was in the middle of a physical relocation at the time, which made his attention to detail, unwavering commitment to his projects, and amenable nature all of the more impressive. In addition to serving as NESA's go-to man, Jeff has a solid command of issues related to Asia-Pacific and maritime security, especially areas where China was concerned. He frequently provided insights on Chinese foreign policy that are overlooked by contemporaries. In our private conversations, I found Jeff to be sensible, open-minded, and passionate about his work as well as American foreign and defense policy. He's also fun to be around.
