I was at Cardinal as a Tech Lead, working with the same team. That meant Jeff didn't report to me, but I had authority over technical decisions and engineering culture that affected him. While I was there, Jeff was my go-to technical SME, an advisor and confidant, and just excellent co-conspirator. As Tech Lead, I was more removed from the code than I preferred, but he was always willing to answer questions, debate, and offer another point of view when I questioned things or considered improvements. He was never afraid to challenge, debate, or improve. He approached skill uplift with zeal and a critical eye. He made me a better engineer, and a better technical leader. He's a really solid mix of technical skill and undaunted assertiveness. He would *crush it* for any team he's a part of, and he's on his way to becoming a really solid technical leader. I hope I get a chance to work with him again.
