• Collected samples of products that were tested on-site for pH, density, brix (sugar content), % protein, moisture content, viscosity, fill volume, and sensory properties. Samples were also sent to other groups inside and outside of the company for further testing, including microbiological testing. • Assisted in the product blending process by verifying ingredients’ masses and lot numbers before addition to the batch as well as testing the batches’ pH, brix, and moisture content throughout blending • Calibrated and maintained metal detectors and other critical control points (CCP) of multiple lines before they would start running and during production of products. Metal detectors and CCPs checked every hour for correct functionality and compliance. • Checked final product for nutritional facts legibility as well as wrinkles and other imperfections on the sleeves of the bottles. Also checked final cases for integrity of the glue as well as for having the correct information printed clearly and legibly on the cases. Checks done every hour. • Inspected integrity of lidding of creamer cups and coffee pods hourly by performing a vacuum test on them every hour under 15 in. Hg for 30 seconds. • Tested for residual hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in bottles/pods before production as well as performed titrations on bottles to measure H2O2 concentrations to ensure proper dosage was obtained throughout run to prevent microbial growth • Performed visual tests on blending tanks before the beginning of blends to ensure cleanliness as well as adenosine triphosphate (ATP) swabs and allergen swabs (as appropriate) • Placed products that did not meet specifications on hold using Syspro 8 • Assisted in the revision of standard operating procedures (SOPs) relevant to perform duties • Wrote multiple corrective action preventative action (CAPA) forms to assess and fix problems via root-cause analysis Not all responsibilities have been listed due to character limit. • Was a part of a group effort synthesizing various ester and amide derivatives of 4-fluorophenylalanine and compiling data for a manuscript to be submitted to the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry • Using various solid-phase and solution-phase routes, synthesized a,a-disubstituted unnatural amino acids as potential pro-antimicrobial target compounds. • Synthesized unnatural dipeptide compounds featuring various problematic amino acids (Aib, Sar, Phg) at the N-terminus. Demonstrated success allowed for numerous examples of novel dipeptides to be prepared in combinatorial fashion in the undergraduate organic chemistry lab. Several have been found to be biologically active. • Assisted in the development of a solid-phase undergraduate laboratory experiment. Established that the chosen alkylating and acylating agent inputs afforded excellent yield of the target molecule and an easily interpretable NMR spectrum. • Separated diastereomers of His-4F-Phe & Tyr-3F-Phe by normal phase chromatography.
