I worked with Jeffrey for nearly 7 years at Amrock, almost all of which we spent on the same teams and for four years on the same leadership team. I truly don't know where to begin--right off the bat he was an incredible teammate who was very invested in helping newcomers to the team find their bearings by always making himself available to give insightful, direct, and judgement-free advice. He extended this same support and more to his teams. The nature of our work often left our team driving the vision behind our initiatives and he was a master at laying everything out and tying all the threads for the business, the team, and the people doing the work. As peers on the IT Operations leadership team, he applied these same heavily refined tactics and strategies with his team while working with me to tie everything into the grand strategy of our IT Operations team. He was protective of his team while very open and receptive to feedback intended to serve all of our respective teams. He was uniquely able to get others to be open and receptive as well to ideas that were fundamentally controversial to some team members. If Jeff was on your side you could rest assured knowing that anyone worth joining your cause would eventually do so even for Jeff's passion and vision alone. My favorite part about working with him for so long is that he was always very open about his own growth as he was always sharing his successes, failures, and the lessons he learned from each. I've learned so much from him not just about work, but about life in general--how to identify what is important and draw and enforce clear boundaries that result in a better environment for everyone in my life, personally and professionally. When I think about what I miss about previous positions what comes to mind first is the people I was blessed to work with. Jeff is right up there at the top of that list.

Jeff as a person is truly one of one, in the best way possible. Jeff as a leader is a rare commodity in IT. Jeff has a few qualities that are incredibly rare in IT. He is never afraid of making a decision, he listens to his team members, and he is never afraid to speak his mind. He is an excellent motivator of people, and did a phenomenal job building and defending his team. He is a man of high character, and a joy to work with. His heart is always in the right place regarding quality and stability, and he held his team to the same standards. His stances on BCP and DR drove policy changes that dramatically improved our uptime in all environments. I truly believe that any company would benefit from having Jeff in the trenches.
