The core function of the RES is ensuring that the police district radio network is operating at its best 24/7. From the police station, the RES staff can attend to the servicing and monitoring of both vehicle and hand held radio communication devices used by operational officers. Some technical matters relating to the radio network through out the district can also be addressed from the office too. RES also have access to portable radio repeaters allowing communications in difficult areas that it would not normally be possible to do so, this can assist when police respond to land/air searches in difficult locations, or even siege type situations.
