Wasatch Resource Recovery (WRR) is a public-private partnership operating Utah’s only anaerobic digesters dedicated to food waste diversion. WRR receives source separated organics, liquid food waste, fats, oils and grease (FOG) and containerized beverage waste at its anerobic digestion facility in North Salt Lake. The food waste is converted into renewable natural gas (RNG) which is refined in a gas upgrading system before it is conveyed to the local utility's pipeline. A by-product of the process is a nutrient rich fertilizer product. Show less

  • Momentum Recycling
    • Greater Salt Lake City Area
    • Founder and Co-Owner
      • Feb 2008 - Sep 2018

Momentum Recycling was founded in 2008 with the mission to divert as many recyclables from the landfill as possible. Momentum Recycling is a full service zero waste company offering comprehensive recycling collection services along the Wasatch Front to residential areas, businesses, nonprofits, schools, and apartment complexes. These materials include glass, mixed recyclables, green waste (fruit and vegetable residuals and yard waste). In addition to collection services, Momentum Recycling helps organizations maximize their recycling efforts, by identifying the recyclable materials in their waste streams through comprehensive waste audits, designing low-impact and intuitive systems for capturing these recyclables, and offering consulting on purchasing and material use practices to divert more materials from the landfill to recycling destinations. Momentum Recycling expanded its operations in 2012 to include processing and recycling of post-consumer glass. The company’s new state-of-the-art glass processing facility makes glass recycling easier, maximizes the diversion of glass away from the landfill, and ensures that glass is recycled into high-quality end products. As of July 2012, Momentum Recycling became the exclusive glass recycler for Salt Lake City when it was awarded two contracts to: 1) implement the first curbside glass collection program in Utah; and 2) process all glass collected by City programs.
