I have been working in UE5 creating VFX systems for Ark2. Systems such as; weather, foot interactions, weapon interactions, and a (more detailed than I care to admit) poop system for all the creatures. I'm enjoying the challenge of creating complicated systems that are easy to maintain and add to. I use tools like Houdini, and Unreal's BPs and Niagara to create systems that are very flexible and work in all aspects of our open world game. I've been writing scripts using Unreal's python API to automate information gathering and process to help in creating those systems. Show less

I have been working with ILMxLab to create some effects for a few VOID and Oculus (Quest and Rift) experiences. In Unreal I used Cascade, BluePrints and Materials. I spent quite a bit of time in Houdini, Substance Painter, and Maya. I have spent time optimizing and testing the game and my effects to make sure the game is performing for the Quest. Houdini has proven to be an invaluable tool for real time work. In addition to creating complex procedural geometry I have been packing data into the meshes in order to create intricate material effects and both procedural and regular vertex animation. I have created crowds in Houdini and used both vertex animation and RBD characters to get unique movements and a complicated looking crowd (250 characters) on the quest. Show less
