Jeff is a hard-working and passionate individual. During his time at Close Up he was devoted to civic education and engagement of his students. He threw himself into the job and sought out innovative ways to reach students by finding out what mattered to them and then weaving that into discussions and curriculum. He was always looking for ways as an educator to create additional opportunities for his students-could they interact with an exhibit at a museum in a richer way, could he facilitate a discussion differently to include each student, how could he help students connect to the issues that mattered most to them nationally and internationally? During his time at Close Up Jeff was chosen to work with many of our special focus programs including the Pacific Basin program focusing on US foreign policy, the FLEX program for students from the former Soviet Union, the United South and Eastern Tribes program focusing on federal policy towards Native Americans and our community action program with students from DC Public Schools. In all of these Jeff was not only a reliable team member but went above and beyond for his students and added great value to our staff.

I always find Jeff to be a trusted collaborator. He is able to focus on overarching goals and strategies while recognizing the value of specific initiatives and approaches. He brings balance and measured analysis to the fair trade movement.
