Bio
John Albert
I worked as a battalion and brigade operations officer with Jeff for two years on a daily basis. In addition to Jeff's substantive expertise as an Abrams Master Gunner, Jeff brought essential stability as a senior non-commissioned officer, fulfilling operations NCO and liaison roles whenever required. He was technically, tactically, and professionally solid. I'll note two key attributes. First, Jeff consistently brought positive input to the team regardless of the situation. I worked closely with him at all hours of the clock face, in weather conditions from below zero to above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and under stress of no notice deployment operations. I can think of no instance when he did not provide the voice of encouragement and proved value additive when cynicism or bitterness would have been the easier and cheaper option. He consistently influenced subordinates, peers, and even seniors, producing better outcomes. Secondly, Jeff's ability to build, motivate, and lead small teams is excellent. Working with varied groups, Jeff developed new Soldiers, mentored master gunners of notably varying personality and quality, and organized staff teams to complete the mission. He proved up to the leadership challenge regardless of the circumstances.
