Effective Knowledge Management requires skills and expertise beyond those of regular Library and Information Sciences. To be successful in KM one must have the abilities and skills to capture the intangible and give that information breath and life. It is like trying to grab smoke. There are a variety of skill sets that one must need to develop beyond those of understanding how to categorize and classify. One must know more than just how to hardcode and program. One must be able to listen, spot trends, organize thoughts, present options, and then begin listening again. Knowledge Management is constant. Jeff is an individual that possesses the rare qualities that make for an effective Knowledge Manager. Knowledge Management takes time, energy and patience. In the short time that Jeff was with us at Anshen+Allen he was able to begin the process of capturing tacit knowledge, organizing a variety of ideas and thoughts about the best way to transfer knowledge across teams, projects, and continents. His work was integral to the development of the knowledge portal and the framework he has left behind will influence KM protocol and intranet utility development far into our future. I highly endorse Jeff's work and his skills. It is with a heavy heart that this fiscal crisis has us losing someone so skilled in an area that is in desperate need of help. As the technological advancements continue to grow, Jeff and others of his caliber will become mandatory elements to a company’s success.
