My present research work is on understanding DNA gyrase-mediated drug resistance mechanism of fluoroquinolones on M. avium. The mycobacterium fluoroquinolone resistance protein (mfpA) has been shown to protect DNA gyrase from fluoroquinolones and eventually increase the MIC of the fluoroquinolones. I have cloned and expressed M. avium gyrA, gyrB, mfpA WT, and mfpA-frameshift proteins, and will be soon starting DNA supercoiling assay with different fluoroquinolones to understand the role of mfpA proteins in fluoroquinolone resistance to M. avium.Earlier in my two year position in Prof. Hiroyuki Yamaguchi lab at Faculty of Health Sciences, Hokkaido University, I focused on elucidating the molecular mechanism of growth dynamics of Chlamydia trachomatis in hypoxia.

I worked in a team of national and international experts for elephant tuberculosis care and management. We developed a Nepal Elephant Tuberculosis Control and Management Action Plan (2011-2015), a first of its kind in elephant range counties https://ntnc.org.np/sites/default/files/doc_publication/2018-11/Nepal%20Elephant%20TB%20Control%20and%20Mgt%20Action%20Plan.pdf.
