After attending various lectures at university, I have been able to reflect on the statement that only 7% of people around the world receive the opportunity to pursue their education in university. I believe that it is time for students of different faculties to acknowledge this privilege and understand that we are accountable to help others gain access to education. Enactus believes in making long term improvements in community through entrepreneurial action. Working as a project associate in Enspire helped me contribute to the process of conducting workshops for elementary students that focused on the importance of social entrepreneurship. While hosting learning workshops, I was able to create an environment that fostered the idea that there’s no limit to what one can learn with an open mind and small case studies helped these students navigate their way into the realm of impact driven business. In Mumbai, it is expected, that students dedicate endless hours on memorizing information to reproduce it during exams. However, my experience of transitioning to the IBDP curriculum has enabled me to develop a growth mindset with regards to the role of education in an individual’s life - to collaboratively work and enhance our understanding of the world. My experiences in IBDP inspired me to propel the dreams of students in India by co-leading a workshop called L.E.A.D, in which we aimed to inculcate the spirit of innovation, critical thinking and collaboration through activities like extempore contests, debates and problem-solving games.
