SCANPH is the leading regional advocacy entity in Southern California for representing the collective interests of the affordable housing industry in political and policy contexts. Additionally, SCANPH’s educational programming strengthens the industry’s overall capacity and policy knowledge to build thriving communities. I oversee all strategic and external affairs, including communications/marketing, membership relationship management, public-facing programs, revenue generation and contracts, educational events, and fundraising; I also support key advocacy goals and secure financial support to sustain our political endeavors Highlights: -Supported key policy and advocacy victories for affordable housing funding both statewide and locally, including: Measure ULA; Proposition 1&2; Proposition JJJ; Measure H; Proposition HHH, and LA’s First Affordable Housing Linkage Fee. -Convened and orchestrated more than 155 programs, events, workshops, seminars, forums and conferences during tenure with SCANPH, thereby educating more than 20,000 attendees from content I designed, planned, and executed. -Directed the creation and implementation of two new alternative revenue models to bolster the growth and finances of the nonprofit: 1.) a new consulting and TA division to provide services to local jurisdictions; 2.) a property-based fee levied to support new programming and staffing -Single-handedly grew annual revenue for nonprofit’s flagship event from $300k to $815k through extensive sponsorship securement and significant growth in attendance -Oversee a grant/contract portfolio exceeding more than $5 million dollars over the course of tenure with SCANPH, including major funding from regional/state foundations and government agencies.
