I primarily spend most of my time teaching Mycology and Parasitology courses at the higher education level. Additionally, I enjoy updating and improving and designing curriculum for these courses. This role is PRN, and at times, I work part-time in the Microbiology laboratory processing samples, performing Gram-stains, India Ink stains, KOH wet preps, culturing and identifying specimens, performing mass spectrophotometry MALDI-TOF and PCR, and setting up samples for antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Though I am relocating into a new location to become a full-time Biology instructor, I will remain PRN here to teach the 2 courses by Webex online twice a year during breaks. Show less

I taught science for 7-8th grade STEM students at a middle school in El Paso, TX, but realized that teaching college and working the in laboratory is what I prefer over teaching middle school, so I only did this for 1 semester during a time in which they were in a crunch and needed someone to fill-in immediately full-time. Following this role, I moved/relocated to SC. My role was PRN in the Microbiology lab on 1st shift, which was a 10 hour shift beginning at 6 AM and ending at 4:30 PM. I commuted to this job and they worked around my college teaching schedule, and I filled in where needed. I started out working here a lot, but there were fewer hours available as time went on and more full-time employees came on-board from other departments.
