Andrew Adelson

Jean was my student at Chapman University Singapore. I was her professor in screenwriting and directing short films. I can honestly say that Jean is one of the most talented and hard-working artists that has come my way. She is a great collaborator, leader and possesses a singular and authentic voice. One could only benefit by having Jean as part of their team.

Rona Edwards

Jean is a hard worker and very creative. She is multi-talented and therefore can multi-task. She is a good editor, singer/songwriter/actress and inventive director. On top of that she's also a good writer and an adapt to most genres. I highly recommend Jean for any position or company as I know how serious she takes the media business. I believe she will be a great asset to anyone who chooses to use her services.

      • 2020 - Present

Growing up, Jean spent her free time writing songs and posting videos of her singing on YouTube. She was awarded the EXCEL Award at the nEbO Spirit of Youth Awards 2012 and 2013 as well as the Best Vocalist Award at the nEbO Spirit of Youth Awards 2014. In 2016, Jean emerged as Champion for Starhub's online singing competition, Hear Me Sing. She was also a part of Noise Singapore's Music Mentorship programme and was mentored by Sara Wee of 53A. In 2017, Jean participated as one of two backing vocalists in Sing•浪 Concert, headed by Fang Dong Kai and Goh Kheng Long, featuring local musicians such as Alfred Sim, Tay Kewei, and Gentlebones. She also shared the stage with Jacky Cheung in July at Harbin for the Jacky Cheung Classic World Tour that year. This year, Jean had her portrait up on Times Square in New York, having been picked to be Spotify's EQUAL ambassador representing Singapore and Malaysia in June. Adding her to Singapore's limited list of musicians who managed to claim this prestigious title. She is also one of the few local musicians who made it to Spotify's RADAR programme. Show less

Having been through training for children in theatre, Jean started acting for Mediacorp at the age of six after her first audition. She got bombed to death in "The Price of Peace (1997)", breaking the hearts of her kindergarten classmates, who held her face and wept when they saw her the next day because they thought she died for real. She also died after stepping on a rusty nail in "Stepping Out (1999)". As she grew older, she stopped dying in shows and hosted whacky mandarin variety shows for children such as "What's Up" and "Kids@World" by Oak3 Films. Some people may recognise Jean as CHIJ uniform-clad Sumin, her first short film lead role, in The Autograph Book by Wee Li Lin. The short film won the "Special Achievement Award" at the Singapore International Film Festival and the "Certificate of Excellence" at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival. Show less
