Quarterly Planning: I coordinate quarterly planning and retro sessions (quarterly), identified resources and time spend involved in projects and ran monthly check-ins on project progress.Communication: I facilitated cross-project communication by running fortnightly stand-up meetings on current and forthcoming projects, chairing cross-team collaboration meetings, and maintaining project-focused information monitorsWorkflow creation: I created workflows for each groups within the Oxford English Dictionary on a quarterly basis, and maintained workflows up until publication.Planning, Scheduling & Allocating Work: I formulated work plans for the Research, Science, and (at need) other editorial groups; allocated work to editors; tracked and reported on progress (fortnightly to group leaders and monthly to the wider project), and re-planned work where necessary, to ensure that editorial groups met monthly targets, and work was completed on time for online publication each quarter. Procedures & working practices: With the Editorial Project Coordinator and group leaders I identified and implemented any changes to practices or procedures which would allow OED’s editorial groups to achieve editorial standards or publication deadlines more reliably, efficiently, or cost-effectively. Financial management: With the Editorial Project Director I set the annual budget for casual and freelance contributors to the Science and Research groups, and managed expenditure against budget.

Training: I provided training in a variety of pre-editorial tasks, so that new recruits were able to perform a range of OED research tasks efficiently and to a high standard. I also supervised, reviewed, and advised on training sessions carried out by line reports. Line Management: I managed a small team of staff researchers, providing them with the training and support necessary to deliver high-quality research work to OED editors, and to develop and supervise the staff and casual researchers they supervise effectively. Public Relations: I represented the OED in contexts outside the press, with the aim of maintaining its public profile. This involved conducting radio and TV interviews with the media, public outreach such as visits to schools and meetings with other parties interested in using the OED.
