I’ve had the opportunity to work with Jean over the last 5 years as we introduced Solidia’s technology into LafargeHolcim’s manufacturing and business operations. As with many new innovations, our role as a start-up was to give LH access to a new technology and accelerate their understanding and access to an entrepreneurial mentality and cutting edge technology while avoiding the risk often associated with trying to develop them internally. Jean not only helped us navigate the complexity of a giant corporation, but also helped develop common business and deployment strategies that would enable both organizations to work together. He has a keen sense of overall business strategy and can readily translate that to execution for a wide variety of audiences; from his own internal team, to downstream customers and our board of directors. Jean often pulled disagreements out of the maze of detail, helping all parties understand what we were trying to accomplish and resetting conversations to move forward, instead of defending the past. His operational experience then allowed him to help translate these new agreements into measurable actions. As a board member, Jean provided invaluable insight to a board from a wide range of backgrounds with little experience in the construction industry. His unique ability to quickly separate the critical elements out of uncertainty and then translate them to action makes him an invaluable partner and collaborator, especially when translating innovation into real business.
