Since joining TACP, Jean has worked on a wide range of projects, with a particular emphasis on large insfrasructure projects such as road schemes. She is the lead ecologost for two road schemes in the Vale of Glamorgan: the A4226 Five Mile Lane Road Improvements Scheme and the St Athan Northern Access Road. Her role on these schemes involves the detailed design and on-site implementation of ecological mitigation measures as well as liaison with key stakeholders including the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Welsh Government, Natural Resources Wales and the local community. She will be responsible for the development of monitoring measures to assess the effectiveness of mitigation measures on both sites. Jean is also the lead ecologist for the Worcester Southern Link Road Phase 4. She wrote the Ecology chapter for the Environmental Statement for the Scheme and has played a key role in developing ecological mitigation and enhancement measures for the project, including the creation of a wetland habitat. Jean worked as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop a design for the habitat creation area which satisfied requirements for ecological enhancement as well as flood alleviation. This involved liaison with key stakeholders, including Worcester County Council, the Environment Agency, the Worcestershire Wildlife Trust and local landowners. Jean has also worked on a number of landscape-scale wildlife management projects. In 2017, she coordinated the preparation of a Habitat Study for the Our Picturesque Landscape Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Heritage Lottery funded project, on behalf of Denbighshire County Council. She was also heavily involved in the development of a Natural Resources Management Plan for the Uplands of Southeast Wales. These projects involed the collection, collation, interpretation and presentation of large quantities of ecological data to develop suitable management measures to protect and enhance wildlife and other natural resources.
