  The LightHouse program of Volunteers of America North Louisiana, is a quality after school and summer program, that provides academic, social, and emotional support for children, teens, and families in need. As the Engagement Coordinator, I work closely with site coordinators to engage family members and build relationships to bridge the gap between home, school, and after school for our students. In addition, I am always looking for new ways to provide STEM, literacy, and other activities that will benefit our students and the program's overall success. Show less

  This was my most challenging volunteer role to date - and it definitely felt like a full-time job at times! I worked seamlessly with my team of 5 board members and 18 committee chair positions to create a welcoming, engaging, and fun overseas environment for our 815 students and 101 teachers and staff. You can see the individual milestones I accomplished on my resume, but what I’m most proud of is our team’s dynamics and our ability to work together effortlessly in a fast-paced environment, the unique school culture we created, and the legacy that will continue for years to come!   I’ve managed 2 non-profit chapters in accordance with IRS regulations; the first chapter was in Albuquerque, NM. As chapter President, I support 35-70 at-home mothers, organize playgroups, holiday parties, monthly meetings, community service projects, stimulating activities, and guest speakers geared toward participants. In 2018, my current chapter earned the ‘Outstanding Chapter’ award for exceptional community service efforts. In 2017, I won Key Spouse of the Year for the squadron, 497th ISR Group, 480th ISR Wing, and Air Combat Command at Langley AFB!
