Sep 2019 - Dec 2020
Worked within the European Process Development department, that is tasked with scale-up and industrialisation of catalyst manufacturer. My role was to ensure the regional Process Development group's activities and processes were compliant to automotive quality standards. RESPONSIBLITIES◾ Represent the department within internal and external audits, owning any resulting non-conformances.◾ Drive continual improvement activities and improve understanding of quality requirements within the group.◾ Improve training standards and knowledge transfer both within the department and to external parties, such as to manufacturing.◾ Identify gaps in our processes and deliver projects to close quality gaps and deliver improvements.◾ Document controller for the department, responsible for the governance of our document management system, upskilling approvers to identify errors quicker and standardising templates.ACHIEVEMENTS◾ Adequately prepared the department during several external IATF 16949 audits and represented them. Closed multiple non-conformances within the allowed timeframe and helped other departments to close theirs too.◾ As the sole Quality headcount, I leveraged resources within Process Development to deliver projects and empowered colleagues to manage them. I created an online log system that allowed projects to be tracked and ensure colleagues remained focused and engaged, delivering over 15 improvement projects.◾ Harmonised templates and procedures for the department that had caused an unnecessary numbers of rejections as there was no standard agreed format. Simplification of the templates and reducing the number was recognised at the external audit as a significant improvement.◾ Performed and designed numerous MSA studies for techniques across the Technology function to meet our quality standards. Through appropriate application of statistical tools, determined the measurement uncertainty of over ten techniques/instruments and improved them. Show less

Process Development Chemist (Process Innovations)

Sep 2016 - Aug 2019
Responsible for providing support to the Process Development function with advanced characterisation methods such as: Washburn sorption, contact angle, surface energy/tension measurements, turbidity etc.RESPONSIBILITIES◾ Characterisation of catalyst products to facilitate problem solving activities, helping support business decisions.◾ Delivery of findings at internal JM conferences, customers and suppliers through first-class presentations. ◾ Investigate new methodologies and equipment to support characterisation of next-generation products. ◾ Management of 3 direct reports, including a placement student, with each report achieving high standards of performance.◾ Regional Test Method owner, responsible for maintenance of complex analytical equipment and driving standardisation of the method across the globe.ACHIEVEMENTS◾ Travelled across the globe to JM sites such as Shanghai and Macedonia to attend Test Method Workshops, delivering presentations as the expert in my field. Also visited various substrate suppliers, sharing test method expertise and coaching local experts. These conversations lead to the substrate suppliers purchasing the same equipment as us, to ensure they had the same capabilities. This required remote development of their methods by us to allow the test to be performed at any site, which was only possible with accurate communication and clear documentation.◾ As owner of my own lab, I provided a safe atmosphere for users to work in and led many safety initiatives, including safety improvements to our Washburn method. I managed to reduce exposure to organic chemicals through sourcing alternative materials. Where it was not possible to exchange solvents, I altered the methodology to minimise risk and reduce the number of steps that could lead to exposure. The improvements made, resulted in no volatile emissions being detected. Show less
