Marie-Josée Legault

Josh has the rare combination of strategic planning and visionary skills along with the ability to actually develop and execute plans flawlessly. Working alongside him at Protect Our Winters gave me a strong sense of his leadership skills, his values-driven professional approach and high emotional intelligence. I will continue to look for ways to work alongside Josh as I always learn something from our exchanges and value his input.

I worked with Josh just after he completed his university studies. Even as a young engineer, he was always very oriented to organizational and managerial tasks. To the point that he led, successfully, since very early in the project, one of the most important and critical sections. Not only from the scheduling and resourcing point of view, but also dealing with stakeholders. From organizing several subcontractors to dealing in meetings with the Final Client, passing through operation presentations to the affected general public. I would gladly work again with Josh, and blindly recommend him to anyone who requests it.

I worked as a contract engineer at Canovus' Foster Creek oil sands site. The Foster Creek project site is in a remote part of Northern Canada on an active air force base. We weathered temperatures of -45C in the winter and muskeg (swamp), horseflies, bears and wolves in the summer. The site covered 1.6 million acres, larger than the inside of the M25 in London. Most of the oil sands exploration work we did was by helicopter or argo (semi-amphibious ATV) or via the network of ice roads we built to access drilling pads in the winter. Cenovus employs a method of oil extraction called SAGD, or Steam-Assisted Gravity Drain, which is a relatively new technology to access oil sands deposits that can be hundreds of metres deep. They have no mining assets, tailings ponds or megaprojects. SAGD technology, allows access to large underground oil sands reservoirs with a small surface footprint. Show less
