Curriculum and Teacher Development Project Consultant
-
Jan 2013 - May 2013
As consultants, my teammates and I developed a curriculum and academic standards with contextual aids for a large multigrade at-risk literacy program based on the Dominican national curriculum, the Common Core, and program goals. We also created a user-friendly handbook in order to strengthen teaching training of the current and future teachers. Additionally, we collaboratively performed an ethnographic evaluation of the local community. Jun 2012 - Aug 2012
Seeking to better understand the urban challenges plaguing Brazilian education, I observed, evaluated, and researched different aspects of the country's, and arguably the world's, most progressive initiatives as well as ambitious planning that effect education quality and shape teacher formation. In addition to my participation in weekly cabinet meetings and completing the newly mandatory teacher training with the first class of teachers of the new school for teacher formation, I branched out to both the private and non-profit schools to understand how they deal with teacher challenges. Customer Service Supervisor
-
May 2009 - Aug 2011
At this leading gay online dating site, I emerged as a department leader of a collaborative supervisory team overseeing a staff of 30-40. With a goal to dramatically improve staff performance, I developed a weekly evaluation/monitoring system (Microsoft Excel), created teaching aids for training reinforcement, and implemented an incentive plan to motivate and encourage stronger performance. Additionally, I helped foster a healthy and effective group dynamic through team-building and conflict resolution and mentored staff members and new supervisors, many with weekly one-on-one reviews. May 2005 - Aug 2006
Establishing a solid grasp over logistical and quality aspects as well as market / trading concepts, I was promoted to Green Coffee Trader. I established new and serviced existing accounts from across six continents as well as assessed client needs and patterns to expand partnerships, increase revenue, and achieve company goals. In doing so, I learned to negotiate prices, contract terms, and resolve disputes with both domestic and international clients. To be effective, required a firm grip on monitoring and analyzing pertinent industry trends, international events, and futures markets. Show less
