Great dynamism and always smiling. He was always ready to lend a hand and get stuck in, Jack never shys away from hard work. He is highly capable and has a wide skills set that enable him to work well in a team or on solo projects. Being able to recognise his areas of development is a key strength of Jack as he puts himself forward for additional learning and new challenges. I would thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to work with Jack again in the future.

During my time at MyWallSt, I was promoted from Senior Backend Engineer to Engineering Manager. This was a significant step in my career, as it brought with it a wide range of new responsibilities and challenges.Responsibilities included leading a team of software engineers ensuring that the team was working on the right projects and delivering high-quality software on time. This required me to take a strategic view of the team's work and to ensure that the team was aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives. My daily responsibilities included running the team stand ups, fortnightly retros, overseeing the progression of team member development as well as managing my own ongoing engineering work. I also worked closely with other teams, such as product managers, designers, and QA, to ensure that the software was aligned with the company's overall strategy and goals.A key responsibility included ensuring that the team was adhering to project deadlines. This required me to have a deep understanding of the team's work and to be able to identify and resolve any issues that arose.Another important responsibility was hiring new staff, as well as building a fully remote team of multi-national engineers. This required me to have a deep understanding of the skills and experience required for different roles, as well as the ability to build a diverse and talented team that could work effectively together. • Senior Backend Engineer, Microservices, API's, Cloud & DevOps
      • Jan 2021 - Dec 2021

As a Senior Backend Engineer at MyWallSt, a fintech company based in Dublin, I played a key role in designing and implementing a migration plan for decoupling the company's monolithic backend API and transitioning to a microservices-based architecture. This required a deep understanding of the current systems, as well as the ability to design and implement a new architecture that would improve scalability, reliability, and overall performance. One of my main responsibilities was the development and implementation of APIs to service existing client applications. This required me to work closely with other teams to understand their needs and ensure that the APIs I developed met those needs in a way that was both efficient and secure. In addition to my technical responsibilities, I was also responsible for managing large customer migration projects. This included working with customers to ensure that their migration to the new microservices-based architecture was seamless, as well as overseeing the automation of KYC requirements.Security was also a major focus of my role, and I was responsible for recommending and implementing best practices to ensure the safety and security of customer data. This required me to stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies, as well as to work closely with other teams to ensure that the company's systems and processes were as secure as possible.
