Partnered with Drexel University's Orthopedics Lab and Drexel's Students Tackling Advanced Research (STAR) Program, I had the amazing opportunity to work at the Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) on their Low Acceleration Time Extended (LATE) Events Project. This project focused on how people react in emergency, impact avoidance maneuvers that are exhibited in critical driving situations. The particular study I had the opportunity to work on within this project focused on the the kinematics of healthy volunteers between the ages of 9 to 40 years old during these LATE events. Experienced Gained: • Presented research at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students in November 2016 • Constructed an apparatus to study the kinematics of human volunteers exhibited in critical driving situations • Collected and processed motion tracking data from human volunteers during experimentation • Designed a procedure that focused on reducing variability between the broad range of volunteers in the study • Recruited for this position based from research developed in Drexel University’s STAR Scholar program Show less Partnered with Drexel University's Orthopedics Lab and Drexel's Students Tackling Advanced Research (STAR) Program, I had the amazing opportunity to work at the Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) on their Low Acceleration Time Extended (LATE) Events Project. Through Drexel's Co Op program, I was able to work at the Institute for Translational Medicine and Science at Rutgers University. Under the direction of Dr. Reynold A. Panettieri Jr, his specific lab under the institute focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate airway smooth muscle and cell growth. His lab also directs a clinical program investigates the management of asthma and COPD. I had the amazing opportunity to work on both aspects of his lab. Experienced… Show more Through Drexel's Co Op program, I was able to work at the Institute for Translational Medicine and Science at Rutgers University. Under the direction of Dr. Reynold A.
