I work with Algenesis materials as a research associate committed to furthering the goals of the company through HPLC and IC analysis of diffusion dialyzed and hollow fiber filtered algae media. I creatively problem solve daily and work to learn as much as I can from every opportunity. I currently manage the Mech-Chem L-05 Diffusion Dialysis instrument for the Pomeroy group in order to purify the essential monomer—succinic acid—for biobased polyurethane synthesis. Our research group has successfully created a polymer which can be seen on the BlueView shoe website. The polymer is biodegradable and is currently sourced from cyanobacteria and plant-based resources. The goal of my project is to aid in the polymer being based fully in cyanobacteria through the purification of a single monomer. I also have intimate experience with the Dionex ICS 1000 and an autotitrator which I use to confirm the purity and efficiency of the separation created by the Diffusion Dialysis instrument. I will be using the HPLC and GC-MS this summer with the research group to assess the efficiency of the succinic acid in a more precise way and assess the VOC composition of algal ponds, respectively. I created a poster for the project that can be observed on my profile. Show less

      • Apr 2019 - Aug 2022

I was hired at UC San Diego Fitness Gyms prior to the pandemic and received my promotion to Training Coordinator after less than a year of working there. I served as the Training Coordinator throughout the entire pandemic and created several community-building and educational workshops for my staff to know that UCSD FG cared about them as people. During the reopening of the fitness gyms, I worked closely with an entirely new staff in order to offer a hospitable and safe environment for patrons to exercise in. Currently, I am working with our staff to reinstate some pre-pandemic policies that will boost the community aspect of the gym now that we can take a step away from enforcing covid guidelines. I have also created approximately 2 hours of video that go in-depth on every aspect of our jobs software so that new hires can be as knowledgable as possible on their first day, as well as have a reference if they ever forget our procedures.
